More Led Zeppelin drama: Robert Plant given “ultimatum”

In what appears to be the latest episode of the soap opera that is Led Zeppelin, the English outfit is reportedly once again squabbling over its future plans. While it’s no secret that the band is in disagreement over whether it should in fact embark on its long-awaited, worldwide reunion tour, it now appears that the Zeppelin members not named Robert Plant are ready to take some drastic measures to ensure they get their way.

In an article appearing in this weekend’s edition of the The Sun, a “source” close to the band is reports that 3/4 of the current Led Zeppelin membership is ready to take the next step, “Jimmy [Page], Jason [Bonham] and John [Paul Jones] are determined a tour will go ahead next year. They’ve been rehearsing frequently in London and the band is really gelling.”

In fact, Page, Bonhman, and Jones are so emphatic in their plans that they are prepared to leave the anti-touring Zeppelin frontman behind.

“There’s an American guy who has been standing in for Robert regularly and doing a great job.

Obviously they want the original frontman to join them on the road but he still won’t commit.

They will be finalising plans for shows over the next couple of months and will tell Robert that if he doesn’t want to be involved they will go ahead without him.”

While the name of this “American guy” was not divulged, the timing of the news does seem a bit coincidental. After all, a certain well-known “American guy” does have some newly found free time. Of course, I’m just speculating…

  1. There is just no way they can tour without Robert. I can beleive the remaining members even want to do it…thats what amazes me.

  2. Use the girl from Lez Zeppelin - she does a great job.

    Or just ask Axl!

  3. Hahaha wow that is most definitely Dave Grohl, that’s pretty funny… well, regardless of how much Dave Grohl is planet Earth’s most privileged human being, obviously the idea disgusts me; alas, I would still pay that “rediculous” ticket price to witness such a spectacle, even without my favorite rocknroll frontman of all time.

Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones on one stage? I guess two’s a hell of number.

  4. TAKE A BREAK DAVE GROHL jeez…

  5. No Plant = No Zepp. Call it what you want, but I’m not paying some ridiculous ticket price to see 1/2 of Led Zeppelin just because they call themselves Led Zeppelin.

  6. [...] Dave Grohl [...]

  7. [...] The Police now finished, Led Zeppelin reportedly looking to replace Robert Plant, and Phish leaving everyone guessing as to what its future holds, there aren’t many big-time [...]
