Weezer gearing up for another album?
Weezer looks to be considering its unpredictable nature. After showing us Red and then doing some hooting and ‘nanning, Rivers Cuomo and company will reportedly return to the studio follow their upcoming North American tour. In an interview with Billboard, drummer Pat Wilson revealed that Weezer will be teaming up with acclaimed producer Garret “Jackknife” Lee in November to begin work on its seventh full-length studio album.
“A week after we get off tour, we’re gonna be in the studio with Jacknife (Lee) again…
We send him stuff that we’ve got, ideas that we have, whether it’s a whole song or a killer riff we can build around or something…It’s all going to him right now.”
Lee went on to note that as was the case for The Red Album, all four of the group’s members will play an active role in the creation process. “Now that we’ve got more writers, we don’t have to wait for Rivers to have a bunch of songs he’s happy with,” the drummer explained. “We used to take forever to make a record, then tour on it forever and be burnt out and not do anything for two years. This is a lot better.”
No word on a title - maybe another color? - or release date. Until then, you’re best bet in getting some Weezer action is live and in person.
