Smashing Pumpkins post anniversary dates
Things look pretty exciting for the former Chicago rockers, Smashing Pumpkins, this fall. If they’re not releasing DVDs or issuing new singles via video games, the band’s out on the road playing three hour shows and bringing fans to tears. This trend seems to continue as more dates are being unveiled for the band’s
twenty-year anniversary coming up.
With pre-sales scheduled today, the dates takes the “American gothic” rockers from East to West, with appearances everywhere, from D.C. to California, Boston and New York. This should bring some fans delight as the band has yet to come back to America’s cultural mecca, the Big Apple.
Most importantly, however, are the four dates in the band’s hometown, Chicago. Since the Pumpkins’ return way back in May of 2007, Corgan & Co. have refused to play in the great Midwestern city. With four dates scheduled, two at the Chicago Theater and another two at the Auditorium, Chicago fans will have plenty of Pumpkins to get their hands on. No word yet on what these particular dates will entail, but given that the short touring stint during the tail end of summer was considered a string of rehearsals, die hard fans should be in for an exciting time come October and November.
All the shows go on sale fairly soon, with the “big” ones in the next few weeks. My advice? Get on the net hours ahead of time, pace around frustrated, and then expect to cry if you get tickets or you don’t get tickets. Fans in Chicago, this sale is going to be a tough one to nail.
I’m going for 11/18!
