Forget drama…Led Zeppelin eyes return w/ Robert Plant
While based on the history of recent months, it’s hard to believe what is true and what is not, at least according to one British newspaper, Led Zeppelin is now set for a full-fledged reunion with frontman Robert Plant. In an article appearing in today’s edition of The Sun - the same paper, which last week reported that the English outfit was possibly exploring the option of replacing its anti-touring frontman, an unknown source confirms that Plant is now in fact on board for a worldwide reunion tour.
“When Robert realised the band were serious about doing it without him, it made him think long and hard…He realised he couldn’t face the thought of not being involved.
“They are now forging ahead with the tour plans and they can’t wait to get on the road.”
While the classic adage, “we’ll believe it when we see it,” certainly still applies here, especially considering the outlet reporting the news (The Sun is basically the U.K. equivalent of the NY Post), we’d be lying in saying we don’t want this to happen.
NME is reporting Plant will soon join the rest of his bandmates for rehearsals in preparation of the tour, which is believed to be planned for next summer.
If the story does indeed turn out to be true, as Prefix Magazine points out, this won’t be the first time Zeppelin’s threat against Plant have worked…
In the early ‘90s Page cut a record with David Coverdale of Whitesnake. It’s unclear if the band were really going to tour without Plant (they claim they had an American vocalist ready to go), but we could have had a Ratt-like (or a Doobie Brothers-like, or a Queen with Paul Rodgers-like) reunion on our hands if Plant hadn’t decided to tour.

Let’s suppose this is true (please!).
How much time would they need to figure out a BA World Tour?(BA for Big Ass) You know, considering rehearsals, booking dates and all the shit. Six months? Three months? Immediately?
Considering the the last thing. Do you see a Zeppelin reunion in Coachella’s 10th anniversary?
If I had to guess, I would assume Led Zeppelin would be a better bet for Bonnaroo with a band like The Kinks filling the “reunion” slot for Coachella…
Seriously I have no idea why but I bet The Smiths make a reunion at Coachella or Talking Heads, but a major major reunion has to be in the works. Also count tool as the second billed act.
I also think The Smiths will be at Coachella. But that’s something that everybody hopes for every Coachella. Anyway, Coachella next year will need to be a really big thing right?
I guess something similar happens with Zeppelin and Bonnaroo, everybody hopes them to be there every year.
