Kanye wants remixes ahead of album release
In anticipation of 808s and Heartbreak - now scheduled to arrive “November something” as opposed to the original December 16 - Kanye West is looking for some fanmade remixes of “Love Lockdown”. Following in the footsteps of Radiohead, the Chicago native is now offering mp3 stems of the upcoming album’s first single for free downloads via his blog.
No word on what Mr. West is planning to do with the remixes, but lets hope it has something to do with his recently announced puppet-based variety show, Alligator Boots. Imagine the possibilities of puppets grooving to some acapella focused remixes…
One thing we do know however, is that Fall Out Boy’s Patrick Stump apparently fancies “Love Lock Down” so much that he recently decided to cover the song, an apparent shock to many fans. Explaining his actions to MTV.com, the frontman noted:
Yeah, is just me in GarageBand. Nothing too serious,”
“I recorded it in the morning before work into my laptop speaker. It was in my head while I was trying to sleep, so I just went ahead and recorded it. I laid it down in, like, five minutes.”
“I’m just a fan of it,”
“I hope Kanye doesn’t mind that I did it… Kanye’s version is obviously better.”
