This morning, Q101, Chicago’s popular rock station, unveiled the new single, “G.L.O.W.”, by its former brethren, the Smashing Pumpkins. And while the band debuted the song live over the summer, this is the first time a studio recording has surfaced. Originally slated for release with this year’s incarnation of Guitar Hero, “G.L.O.W.” is the beginning of a new trend of releases for the band.

“Come on, come on, come on, can you feel it,” Corgan asks again and again. It’s really the only hook this song has, but if there’s one thing to be positive about, it’s the production. Unlike the glossy and fabricated style of last year’s Zeitgeist, this track seems more akin to the band’s material in the 90’s. So, that’s a good thing. Next time, just remember some hooks, Corgan. Then again, I’m a bit critical of the band myself.
