Eminem to be “King” by year’s end?
Apparently, Eminem’s creative block didn’t take much time to overcome after all. According to several published reports, the hip-hopper born Marshall Mathers is not only nearly complete with music’s worst kept secret, his long-awaited sixth studio album, but has already given it a name, King Mathers, and December release date.
While nothing has been confirmed by Eminem himself, and the timing does seem a bit odd considering longtime collaborator 50 Cent will have a new effort out himself come December, News of the World’s Rav Singh reports that a tentative Christmas release date is indeed set.
That’s right rap fans. Throw ya hands up in the air, and wave ’em like you just don’t care . . . for I can reveal that the Em-pire will strike back this Christmas…
My source tells me: “It’s exciting times and, of course, there’s massive expectation surrounding this new record.
“Eminem is out to realise his full potential,” adds my man in the recording suite. “The volume and quality of music he’s producing is prodigious.”
Then again, based on language alone, maybe it wouldn’t be wise to put too much faith in the report. Who even “throws their hands in the air” anymore?
Still, some previous tidbits do give the story some backing. King Mathers has long been rumored to be the title of what will be the follow up to 2004’s Encore, while just last week, a representative for Interscope confirmed to Billboard.com that the album could be out before the end of the year.
Eminem’s last public appearance was in an interview on his Sirius-owned radio station Shade 45 earlier this month, where he proclaimed he was busy “banging out tracks.”
More as it comes…
