Shearwater readies new EP, world travel
Between the release of their last studio endeavor, Rook, support stints with Coldplay, and a headlining tour of their own, Jonathon Meiburg and Shearwater have certainly gotten the most out of 2008 thus far. And get this. The Austin based outfit is showing no signs of slowing down. Looking to build on the success, Meiburg and Co. have announced plans for both a brand new EP and worldwide, two month tour.
On October 14th, Shearwater will unveil its second release of the year with The Snow Leopard. The digital EP will feature remastered b-sides and bonus tracks from Rook behind cover art derives from the work of the artists Kahn + Selesnick.
The release will come hit stores right when the band kicks off the first dates of its newly announced, world tour. U.S. stops will include support from Hospital Ships, while U.K. dates will see the group team up with both Silver Mt. Zion and Meiburg’s former outfit, Okkeril River, in select cities. The only downside? Shearwater has had to scrap its planned appearance at the upcoming Fun Fun Fun Fest.
