Cat Power in a cover kind of mood
Turns out Cat Power’s recent commercial friendly cover of David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” foreshadowed things to come. On December 9th, just in time for Christmas, the musician born Chan Marshall, will release a few more on a double 10″ EP entitled Dark End Of The Street on Matador Records. The six track composition, recording during sessions for 2008’s Jukebox, features a mix of old and new, including a rendition of CCR’s “Fortunate Son”. Unfortunately, the love for Mr. Bowie was not replicated…

I was rolling my eyes at this until I saw she was covering the Pogues. I think I’m going to be looking forward to this just a little bit.
Thanks for the update, Alex! I looked around everywhere yesterday and couldn’t find the tracklist. I’m glad to see “Dark End” and “Fortunate Son” are going to see the light of day, but I was hoping the revamped “I Don’t Blame You” would be released, too. Either way, you can’t beat more Cat Power covers!
