Interview: Joe Lewis and Zach Ernst (of Black Joe Lewis)
Different kiosks lined the media lounge at Austin City Limits last weekend, offering cold beverages and delicious snacks (like a strawberry-flavored organic Fruit Roll-Up that looked like throw-up but tasted like bliss). Journalists were interviewing different musicians at every table, and radio stations like the local KUT were broadcasting live. It was something else.
Consequence of Sound used the opportunity to chat with Austin natives Joe Lewis and Zach Ernst, members of the eight-piece funk-soul band Black Joe Lewis and the Honeybears, where we discussed the new tour with Okkervil River, influences, the band’s rising notoriety, and what the future may hold.
