Van Morrison to revisit Astral Weeks live
Of late, live renditions of entire classic albums have become rather commonplace. Public Enemy performed It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back at Pitchfok, GZA just finished up a Liquid Swords tour, and ATP New York, well, lets not even go there. But, it is not so often that albums from the days of free love are revisited in such a manner. That is why it comes as a very subtle surprise that Van Morrison will soon be 
performing his 1968 classic, Astral Weeks, in its entirety for three shows at Los Angeles’ Hollywood Bowl. Kicking off on Novemeber 7th, the Irish native will offer the masterpiece in all its frenzy, rhythmic glory with the help of some of the album’s original musicians, including bassist Richard Davis.
Tickets will be available on October 5th through ticketmaster. A full-fledged North American tour could follow, but in the meantime, an Astral Weeks Live at the Hollywood Bowl DVD is in the works to keep the non-LAers occupied.
