Watch: Pete Doherty covers Blur
Speaking of Pete Doherty, turns out the Babyshambles frontman has quickly become the U.K. version of Ryan Adams. But before you take this thought a bit out of context, we’re referencing the British native’s ever growing love for YouTube videos, not whatever other loony antics you can come come with.
Taking a page from the Adams, Doherty has spent the last few weeks debuting some new material via the viral video route. First, there was the shirtless jamming with Johnny Marr, then Kate Moss and “Gracewasteland/s” showed up. Now, in the wake of news concerning the end of Carl BarĂ¢t’s post-Libertines outfit, Dirty Pretty Things, Doherty is back with another new selection to help wipe away those tears.
This time around, the Babyshambles frontman can be seen in a short video montage teaming up with former Blur guitarist Graham Coxon for a rendition of the legendary band’s 1997 number “You’re So Great”. At only 45 seconds in length, the video certainly ends much too quickly on the music side, but was apparently enough to fuel speculation in the British press that song may wind up on Doherty’s forthcoming solo album.
The currently untitled effort is reportedly being held up by financial problems.
