Andrew Bird takes on a Beast
Back in July, Andrew Bird mentioned to our friends over at WNEW that he had begun working on a brand new studio album. At the time tentatively tiled Non-Animals, the Chicago born singer/songwriter described the effort as reminiscent of 2003’s Weather Systems, noting its 10 songs were the result of two acoustic guitars and vocals…something “very, very simple.”
Some four months later, Bird is finally ready to unveil the album, just with a few minor changes. Scheduled for release on January 27, Noble Beast, as it is now being called, will feature 12 tracks, including “Oh No”, the album’s whistle friendly first single, now streaming compliments of Pitchfork.
And get this, Bird’s sixth full-length endeavor is being headed by another new, release. Only this one will be
a bit more personal. While not the live DVD that was initially hoped, Live In Montreal, available now on Fat Possum Records, offers nine tracks that look to replicate the rather unique “improvisatory aspect” of the musician’s live performance.
Add in the few upcoming actual tour dates on the itinerary, and whether recorded or live, you won’t have to wait until Thanksgiving to get your helping of Bird.
