Watch: Kanye performs single #2
Since debuting “Love Lockdown” at the VMAs last month, Kanye West has remained tight-lipped on details pertaining to his upcoming fourth-studio album, 808s and Heartbreak. First, the Chicago native changed the album’s December 16th release date to “November something,” all but putting the kibosh on another head-to-head showdown with 50 Cent and then, cryptically dropped some mp3 stems of “Love Lockdown” without providing much explanation of what exactly he was looking for.
Considering “November something” is technically next month and Kanye has yet to unveil either an
album cover, tracklist, or actual release date for that matter, perhaps it was a bit surprising to see the hip-hopper out and about last night, rather than furiously typing up all the important details on his blog. Then again, it is Kanye and Kanye does what Kanye wants, regardless of what Kanye actually wants or doesn’t want.
Never mind, back to yesterday evening.
So basically, West was bouncing around L.A. last night and happened to stumble on to the MySpace hosted record release party for of T.I.’s latest endeavor, Paper Trail. Using the opportunity to his advantage, West took the stage for a three-song, surprise performance - first joining T.I. for “Swagger Like Us”, before going off on his own for solo renditions of “Love Lockdown” and…808s and Heartbreak’s apparent second single, “Heartless”. Combined with the songs, the performance was accompanied by a declaration from Kanye noting the album as “done” and ready for release on November 25th.
Fellow rapper Consequence got the whole thing on video and has shared it for all to enjoy…
“Heartless” was previously debuted during the Democratic National Convention in August.
