Lil Wayne thinks present and future
Lil Wayne appears pretty intent in making Kanye work for his self-declared “hardest working rapper” title. Since released Tha Carter III in all its much anticipated glory, the Louisiana native has been working overtime. Between touring, which included a stop at the Virgin Festival, and some dabbling in the profession of blogging - which he ain’t to shabby at - it’s hard to imagine Lil Wayne has much time for one new project, let alone two. But as he recently explained in his latest ESPN blog entry, you won’t have to wait another three years for III’s follow up.
WHAT’S NEXT FOR LIL WAYNE?
I’ve been busy in the studio, and right now I’m working on a mix tape, along with Tha Carter IV. The mixed tape you can expect real soon. It’s called Dedication 3, and it’s going to be Gangsta Grillz by DJ Drama. And then right after that, I’m putting that same mix tape out with twenty extra songs for free on my website.
To clarify things a bit, like its predecessor, Dedication 3 will be part of DJ Drama’s “Gangsta Grillz” series and will be heavy in samples and guest appearances from his Young Money crew. The mixtape will be accompanied by 30 or more additional tracks, all of which will be released for free on Lil Wayne’s website.
As for the follow up to 2008’s most commercially successful album, details remain sketchy - “nice” is the only word used to describe it thus far - but it appears it will likely be ready in early 2009, around the time, Wayne’s other upcoming project, a duet album with T-Pain, will hit record stores.
