Pavement gets a “suh-weet” reissue
We’re not affiliated with them in anyway, and we certainly don’t receive a check or anything, but we think Matador Records is pretty cool. After all, what other record company is so devoted to getting music to its fans and listeners? Okay, probably a few, but that defeats the purpose of this news bite.
Which is?
Matador Records is readying a reissue of epic proportions, and it’s certainly a treat for the aging indie rockers out there. Coming around “just in time for the holidays,” Matador will reissue Pavement’s fourth album, Brighten The Corners, subtitled the Nicene Creedence Ed.. From the looks of it, this set should even make the likes of Stephen Malkmus smile.

[Matador]
Wow, right? That’s what I’m talking about. This should certainly give those “Deluxe Editions” a run for its money. However, it only gets better. In an effort to get this release to you as soon as possible, Matador will be utilizing a “Buy Early, Get Now” system that rewards rather than steals.
In this system, you can pay for this set now, and receive the following:
-Oct 10: an instant stream of the album
- Oct 21: bonus track #1
- Nov 4: bonus track #2
- Nov 18 - street date - pick up the album at your store (or get it in the mail) PLUS an exclusive vinyl bonus LP containing an unreleased concert, AS WELL AS a free poster
Now, if you’re scratching your head wondering what that bonus vinyl is all about, then scratch no more. The LP will be the long forgotten Live disc that Pavement fans have been salivating over for years. Talk about a rare find, huh?
Yeah, Matador pretty much kicks ass right about now. Looks like I know what I’m getting for Hannukah. Oh boy, time to spin that dreidel… oh wait, it’s still only Halloween.
Even better.
By the way, for those that don’t want to participate in this awesome deal, Brighten The Corners: Nicene Creedence Ed. will hit retailers on November 18th.
