The Decemberists get Hazardous with new LP
Whether is constantly touring, releasing EPs, or just releasing full albums, it seems The Decemberists just never quit. Aside from a few sick days that resulted in a cancellation of much of last year’s tour (OK, they took a pretty big break), the Seattle collective has done some Obama support rallies and announced their Always The Bridesmaid vinyl series, the first of which will be released on October 14th. With all this going on, it comes as somewhat of a shock that the band is nearly finished with their latest album Hazards of
Love. But according to a recent newsletter send out by the outfit (via Paste), its fifth full length could be in our hands before we know it.
We’ve officially closed the book on tracking our next record and mixing starts tomorrow! We’re all tremendously pleased with the outcome thus far. It’s called ‘Hazards of Love.’ That’s all we’ll say now
So that’s that. The follow up to 2006’s The Crane Wife is coming quick, and if its anywhere as good as its predecessor, then we’re in luck. Live recordings of six of the new songs were also posted over at You Ain’t No Picasso, just to give you a taste. The band is evidently keeping their lips locked as to anymore details about the new album, but hopefully we get it soon, it has been about two years.
The Decemberists will embark on a quick jaunt on the 30th just two weeks after the release of the first Always the Bridesmade 7″.

[...] Portland rockers otherwise known as The Decemberists are indeed almost finished with a new LP, Hazards of Love. However, as fine and dandy as the news was, not much info on the album was released at that point. [...]
