Watch: Aesop Rock talks The Weathermen

If all had gone according to plan, the “new left,” high-profile hip-hop group known as The Weathermen would have begun work on its first and only studio album during the “seventh year of the millennium” and unveiled it for all to hear sometime this year. Unfortunately, life doesn’t always work as it was originally planned and due to a number of unforeseen events, including the tragic death of member Camu Tao in May, the six man group composed of Aesop Rock,  El-P, Cage, Tame One, Yak Ballz and Breeze Brewin essentially put these plans on the back burner.

However, in a recent interview with Boost Mobile (watch below), Aesop Rock confirmed that The Weathermen do intend to soon begin work on the long-awaited debut. “It’s been a pretty weird year because of [Tao's passing]. That’s kind of the driving force behind us finally getting it in gear to do this record together as a unit, and try to make it finally happen.” The rapper also went on to note the album would feature a very “Wu Tang-esque” feel and a tour will likely follow the records release.
