Watch: Green Day hits the studio

Green Day fans won’t have much to “Grouch” about after viewing the recently surfaced video below. It turns out we very well may have a “Green Day” in 2009 as it now appears the California punk outfit has officially returned to the studio to begin work on the long-awaited follow up to 2004’s American Idiot.

The aforementioned video, titled “Green Day 10-9-08,” is a quick 45 second clip of the band in the studio. Bille Joe leads things off with some strumming, followed by a cut to some ska sounds resonating from a speaker. All in all it doesn’t show much - I don’t hear any piano! - but hey, it is something.

Of course, all this comes just days after Garbage frontlady Shirley Manson confirmed in an appearance on Last Call with Carson Daly that her fellow bandmate Butch Vig has been tapped to produce the album.
