Weezer gents promise they are writing, just not recording an album right this second
While I’m still not really sure how “someone can jump the gun” with news of Weezer gearing up to record another album come November when the outlet at question, Billboard, got its info, in an interview, directly from a member of the band, Pat Wilson, but apparently that’s what happened.
In another interview, this time around with Spinner, guitarist Brian Bell denied news that Weezer would begin recording the follow up to the recently released Red Album once its touring obligations over.
Someone jumped the gun,” he explains. “We’re still going to focus on promoting the ‘Red’ album, and when we have the songs and the time feels right, we’ll record.”
But before Weezer fans got too depressed over the fact another collection of ingenious (or not?) pop songs
won’t be sitting under their Christmas trees, Bell did go on to note that the band is indeed writing…which I guess could mean a new album could come sooner than later.
Within the band has shifted towards being more collaborative, and a safer place for people to bring ideas to and actually be heard.”
So what now? Well, you could watch Cuomo and company get in “trouble” playing dodgeball, or relive some of those, um…good renditions of Oasis and Nirvana from a few weeks back. Plus, Bell is also plans on releasing an album for his side-project, The Relationship, in the coming months as well. So things aren’t all that bad.

I thought it said: Weezer gents promise they are writing, not just recording an album right this second, And I thought: Well, at last they found out the Red album sucks so it’s a good thing they’ll actually write something and not go and record anything.
