Well that explains it…M.I.A. is pregnant
Since canceling her U.K. tour and then subsequently basically retiring at Bonnaroo back in June, the future of the artist we’ve come to know and love as M.I.A. has been anything but clear. In reality, between the Jay-Z remix, tune with Rye Rye, and war of words over terrorism, the singer/songwriter born Maya Arulpragasam hasn’t really done a good job acting “retired,” or whatever you want to call it. But then, take the fashion career and lack of any live performances into a factor, and well, yeah…
Fortunately thanks to the fine, fashion-friendly fellows at Diesel, we now at least know one reason for M.I.A.’s semi-attempt at a work stoppage. The 31-year-old is expecting her first child…as evident from her performance last evening at Diesel xXx.

So there you have it. Now we can’t start coming up with clever nicknames that incorporate “mom.” Mother in Action? Mom is Awesome?
M.I.A. announced her engagment to guitarist Benjamin Brewer in the Spring.
