The Cure debuts 4:13 Dream in Rome
It’s been some time since Robert Smith (of The Cure) yelled at iTunes and announced details of its new album, but since then, some developments have been
made. Over the weekend, the British goths played a free show at Rome’s Piazza San Giovanni. It was an absolute success and definitely one that even Smith could smile about.
The gig boasted a near two hour set, which included the new album, 4:13 Dream, in its entirety. For those that didn’t make it, which is probably anyone reading this right now, the show was broadcast on MTV. Though like any important video these days, the entire show has found its way onto YouTube. Don’t feel like searching? Don’t worry, got you covered. All of the videos can be found here, and mp3s of the show were culled together over at Chain of Flowers.
Just by quickly glancing at the videos, and judging on the four already-released singles, it’s obvious that 4:13 Dream is going to be a vast improvement over 2004’s forgettable self-titled album. Even the album opener, “Underneath the Stars”, seems worthy of the album itself. These are songs that move the band forward without leaving behind too much of what made them “cureable” to us, pun intended.
So, for those who are in some dire need of Robert Smithage lately, these videos and mp3s should hold you over until October 28th, when the group’s thirteenth album finally hits stores. Oh, just thinking about a new Cure record brings tears to my eyes…
Then again, that’s the whole point of this music, right?

I can’t wait for this album to leak.
the cure ~ FOREVER
Luke, if and when it leaks, and you download it, I hope that you consider it to be worthy enough to buy. Otherwise, don’t bother downloading. Smith and Co. can’t make a living off of giving away music for free.
Shawn, if it is as good as the hype I’ll buy it on vinyl. If not well then I guess the cure will have to make its money selling out stadiums in minutes…
The Cure is the best!
