Feist to throttle back after Canadian Tour
Performing at big events such as the Grammys and nonstop touring can really start to wear a person down. Just take Feist for example, who yesterday morning announced plans that she would be taking a much needed break, following the conclusion of her currently ongoing Canadian tour. With the success of her latest album 1234, Feist has reportedly begun to feel a bit suffocated by her the acclaim and the many pressures the music industry has laid on her. So, while looking to find stable ground, the Canadian indie princess has decided she’s just going to “rest a minute.”
“[My career] has become kind of large and it really began for me very, very small,
like me alone in my bedroom with my four-track and a pair of headphones. I just need to go back there for a while to get my bearings again and then know what to do next.”
Unfortunately, good news comes in pairs. The 32-year-old singer/songwriter, also unveiled she had no future plans of teaming up with Broken Social Scene again. In fact, Feist rather harshly stated, “It’s not really as interesting for me as it once was. [It] would be like a reunion to be able to hang out with everyone – but I can do that around a kitchen table too.”
Obviously, the band has managed to get on quite well without her over the last year or so, recording some solid albums and touring around the U.S. and Canada. However, Feist will be sorely missed from Broken Social Scene’s ever changing line-up. After all, there goes our chance to see “Almost Crimes” performed live!
