Of Montreal releases album, video, then goes “busking”

With all “the complexity of the design/packaging efforts” now out of the way, Of Montreal has officially unveiled its much-anticipated new studio album, Skeletal Lamping, in all its perpetual state of human conscious representing, sticker glory. To celebrate the release, the Kevin Barnes led outfit currently finds itself splitting time between its currently ongoing North American tour, recording music videos for the album’s first single, “Id Engager”, and participating in some sort of new internet music phenomena known as “busking”. Thank goodness the band has horses to ride nowadays. How would they possibly fit in time to walk?

After finishing up a few dates in Europe, Of Montreal will head back to the states for the second leg of its North American trek, which will include extended stints in both Texas and Florida. Based on all we’ve heard (a cover of “Smells Like Teen Spirit”) and seen (remember that horse?) thus far, it’s safe to assume the remaining scheduled concerts will maintain the band’s trademark weirdness. Speak of which, now’s a good time to watch the recently unveiled music video for “Id Engager”

As for this “busking,” or as Wikipedia defines it, “the practice of performing in public places for tips and gratuities,” Of Montreal recently took part in the activity at various bandstates around London. Bandstand Basking (hmm…I wonder where they got their name from?) recorded the whole thing and has since shared the videos for all to enjoy.
