Day five of CMJ 2008, what are you doing?
We have reached the end my friends. (Ugh, can you use “my friends” without thinking John McCain?) The final day of the 2008 CMJ Music Marathon is upon. In some ways, it’s congratulations. You made it through a week of nonstop music, free beer, and sleepless nights. Then again, only the latter seems all that bad. But in another sense, like every festival, the end of CMJ is a bit bittersweet. Starting tomorrow, music fans will be thrown back into reality, where wristbands don’t grant you access and goody bags don’t accompany your entrance.
Key word however, is tomorrow. We still have one more day, 24 hours to squeeze in those last few showcases. So what’s on the agenda today? Lets take a look, shall we? And of course, Consequence of Sound has you covered for the whole thing. Be sure to check back once CMJ is over for all recaps, reviews, and even a memoir. Our own Matt Friedman and Elizabeth Grobel are on the scene as we speak, ready to help decipher the scenes that will take place over the next two days and put some thoughts and words behind them.

Oh, and did I mention, you’ll find yours truly floating around as well?

- The Toxic Avenger, Team Robespierre, Juiceboxxx, and Designer Drugs make up the names of acts who will appear at iHeartComix’s Official Showcase at the Music Hall of Williamsburg.
- Later tonight, Merge Records will take over the Mercury Lounge and bring Oakley Hall, The Music Tapes, The Rosebuds, and Broken West with them.
- Crashin’ In will look to cap the festival off with a stellar unofficial afterparty at Public Assembly. 15 live bands will take the stage between 3pm and 4am, highlighted by The Muslims, Johnny Foreigner, and The Uglysuit.
