Vic Chesnutt, Elf Power get together for “Dark Developments”

Now that the Elephant 6’s guest-friendly “Holiday Surprise Tour” is officially a wrap, Elf Power is now moving on to another collaborative this project. Only this time around, the Athens outfit will be teaming up hometown friend Vic Chesnutt for a brand new studio album. Scheduled for release next Tuesday, October 28th, on Orange Twin Records, Dark Developments will offer a “tuneful collision” of Elf Power’s characteristic experimentally fuzzy styles with Chesnutt’s acclaimed emotion-laced narratives. Seems like a win-win combo in my book, but we got a mp3 below for those needing further evidence.

In support of Dark Developments, the two acts will embark on a month-long North American tour begining next week. In addition to reliving some of the album’s collaborations onstage with Chesnutt, Elf Power will also open each night performing tunes from its most recent release In A Cave. No word on whether Jeff Mangum is on the guest list…
