10 years ago, 18th Dye was at the forefront of the music world. With two full-length efforts under their belt, the Berlin-based rock group sported a record contract with Matador and toured with the likes of indie heavyweights Stereolab and Yo La Tengo. But a year later, the three-piece outfit of Sebastian Büttrich, Heike Rädeker, and Piet Bendtsen called it quits, choosing to move on to other ventures.
But like so many others of our favorites bands who have a similiar history, 18th Dye is now ready to make its comeback. Technically, this actually occurred a few years ago when the band officially reformed for a series of concerts in the summer of 2005. However only now, after signing a contract with Crunchy Frog Records, is 18th Dye finally ready to make its studio return. On November 11, the group will release Amorine Queen, a 12-song batch of White Stripes’ approved riffs and Wire-meets-Sonic Youth-influenced melodies promised to thrill diehards and newcomers alike.
The release will be accompanied by a number of North American tour dates, 18th Dye’s first overseas stint since disbanding. Looking for a preview of both the band’s new material and current live performance before committing to a second go around? We’ve got you covered in both respects:
