Bad Brains aren’t the only legendary punk outfit in the news these days. The Zero Boys, perhaps best known for their politically conscious lyrics and influential role in the explosion of hardcore punk in the mid-1980s, will soon be celebrating the rerelease of the band’s entire discography. On January 20th, Secretly Canadian will reissue Vicious Circle, the Indiana outfit’s acclaimed debut album, as well as its “long lost second album, History Of, which includes in the legendary Livin’ In The ’80s EP. These two works comprise the entire output of the original line up of the Zero Boys from 1979-1983.
While part of the four-piece outfit’s legend is a result of its concert history – On July 3, 1982, the Zero Boys shared the bill with Dead Kennedys and Minor Threat at a show in Torrence, California viewed by many as the one of the more crucial moments for the explosion of hardcore in the latter half of the decade – aside from a view one-off reunion shows, the original lineup has stayed out of the lime light in recent years. So instead of a list of tour dates, I’ll leave you with the next best things, a video from back in the day:
