Ray Davies really wants a Kinks reunion

Unlike some contemporaries, Ray Davies is anything but quiet these days. Between his recently announced new round of tour dates to plans for a collaboration album with the likes of Snow Patrol, Chuck Berry, and Razorlight, the English native has more than enough to keep him busy for the foreseeable future. Yet even so, Davies biggest focus still remains a reunion of his main outfit, and he is doing everything in his ability to make that a reality.

Over the last nine months, the prospects of a Kinks reunion has slowly evolved from a full blown fantasy in January to “three quarters of the way” from reality in September. Now, according to a BBC interview with the band’s frontman, the Kinks are attempting to nail down that last 25% and are now not only again collaborating, they are writing new material.

“We’ve started a little bit of this and that… But it is too early to judge the quality…

“It depends if there’s good music. We want good new music. I’d like to do it as a more collaborative thing than we used to do.”

Remind me again, who has The Kinks in the Coachella reunion office pool?

The interview did go on to point out that the final outcome of any reunion is still dependent on the health of Dave Davies, who suffered a stroke in 2004.
