Yeah Yeah Yeahs get “different” with new album

Whoah, there has been a whole lot of nothing in terms of Yeah Yeah Yeahs news recently, which is strange for a band that you couldn’t stop seeing everywhere you looked only years ago. Aside from drummer Brian Chase working with one of the guys from Arcade Fire on The Sway Machinery, the New York outfit has been notably absent from the headlines of late.

Of course, this is obviously a result of the fact that Karen O and Co. have been in the studio working on the follow-up to 2006’s Show Your Bones since early May. Seven months later, despite the presence of cats on the soundboard and a brief side-project by the courageous frontlady over the summer, Yeah Yeah Yeahs are now apparently quite close to finishing their third full-length effort.

In a recent posting on its MySpace blog, the band shared a few details of pertaining to the forthcoming releases:

New record is getting closer to being done done done! You still won’t be hearing it until 2009 but damn, are we close to finishing it, and only after a year of writing and recording!

Will it sound kind of like ‘Show Your Bones’? No, been there done that. What about ‘Is Is’? Is that more of the direction it’s going in? Absolutely not, it sounds VERY different.

What does it sound like? Not much like anything you’ve heard from us before. Does it sound like the Yeah Yeah Yeahs? You bet your sweet ass it does.

We can hardly wait ourselves, we miss all of you and we’ve been working extra hard on this one with the intention to make you as happy as possible. Just wanted to drop a line to let you in on how quickly we’re approaching the finishing line and to GET PSYYYYYYYYYYYYCHED.

Psyched!? How could you not be with a such a riveting blogpost, filled with repetition and coarse sarcastic speech.  Plus look at that Mickey Mouse hat in the studio shot.  Remember when real press releases with bands existed? Anyhoo, sounds like you can expect:

A) Something new and different from the band

B) In 2009

Let’s hope Karen O and co. aren’t just blowing things outta proportion with all this excitement.

  3. [...] ¿A qué suena?
