Check Out: Ryan Adams & The Cardinals’ latest high-profile cover

If Ryan Adams ever decides to quit his music career, he should seriously consider teaching a course entitled, “The Art of Music Blogging.” After all, between Cardinology, the cups of coffee, and every other Adams related attention grabing tidbit, the North Carolina native has essentially mastered the oh so scary music blogosphere so much that anytime he does something even remotely interesting, it sends all of us, including yours truly, into a perpetual state of shock, which causes us to stop what we’re doing and immediately give Adams and his Cardinals bandmates our full, undivided attention.

Take the below rendition of the Foo Fighters’ “Times Like These” for example. Most of the time when one high-profile acts covers another, it’s pretty cool and usually gets a small mention on something like our Friday Mixtape. But when Adams and the Cardinals offered up this rock gem on Dermot O’Leary’s BBC broadcast over the weekend, and which hit the web short thereafter, let’s just say I’m sure I’m not the only one whose gloomy Monday turned upside down upon getting a taste of this acoustic-heavy rendition. It’s not nearly as good as some of Adams’ previous high-profile covers, but the subdued vocals and supporting alt-country riffs add a little elegance to this fiery rock ballad.

I wonder how long before we get a press release for a Ryan Adams and Foo Fighters co-headlining tour…
