Will Sheff’s big plate o’ music
Conor Oberst, beware! Jack White, you’re next! It seems like there’s a new songwriter in town, and he’s on the prowl for hungry, angsty souls… and he’s gon’ get ‘em. Okay, let’s cut the bullshit, huh? Okkervil River’s mastermind, Will Sheff, is up to his neck in projects. You know, as if touring Europe isn’t enough for one person, right?
The first of two projects, Sheff will collaborate with Charles Bissell of The Wrens on a rare 7″. For the uninformed, we’re referring to vinyl here. So, what’s on the record? Covers. Yes, Sheff will be covering a song by The Wrens, and vice versa. Pretty clever, eh? Just what songs might we expect? Both parties are scaling back five years, with Sheff covering “Ex-Girl Collection” off of The Wrens’ Meadowlands, while Bissell will be performing “It Ends With A Fall” from Okkervil’s Down The River Of Golden Dreams. This lil’ gem will be available online and at the band’s respected shows. So, um, look out for it!
Next up is a solo tour from Sheff himself. With Okkervil wrapping things up in Europe by the end of the month, the poppy yet depressing frontman has to find something to do. So, why not a small scale solo tour that’s out of left field? Be wary though, he’s only hitting New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. But, you know how things can be, he could always expand on this.
