Jimmy Eat World celebrates 10 years of “Clarity”
On February 23, 1999, four musicians hailing from Tempe, Arizona released an album that would ultimately sever their contract with Capital Records. While a nightmare scenario for most, Jimmy Eat World embraced Clarity with open arms. In some respects, the result was messy - compared to 1996’s Static Prevails, Capital was less than thrilled with the 13-track, Mark Trombino produced effort - yet ultimately, the album would prove perhaps the best important release of Jimmy Eat World’s 15 years of existence. Clarity not only marked a new era for the band, one which included a subsequent record contract with current label Interscope Records, but also essentially jump started the band’s success within the mainstream music world.
10 years to the date of the release, Jimmy Eat World will embark on 10-date, Northern American tour in celebration of the anniversary. With the support of Reuben’s Accomplice and No Knife, the pop-punk outfit’s will offer up performances of Clarity in its entirety at each of the tour’s stop. Pre-sale tickets will go on sale through the band’s website on November 13th, while general sales will begin on the 15th via ticketmaster.com.
After the celebrations come to an end, Jimmy Eat World is expected to return to the studio to begin work on its seventh full-length album.
