Looks like we’ll have to wait a bit longer for Eminem’s “Relapse”…
Since officially announcing his forthcoming sixth studio album, Eminem has been giving Kanye, Thom Yorke, and Trent Reznor a run for their money for the coveted honor of being CoS’ most blogged about musician. First it was title. Then, another, more official title, Relapse. “I’m Having a Relpase” followed. And now we’ve got some more! While some assumptions based on Amazon.com might have hinted that Eminem’s much anticipated follow up to 2004’s Encore would hit stores just around Christmas time, recent news seems to say otherwise. According to an anonymous insider, Relapse will probably not be available until sometime in 2009, possibly, as late as spring of next year. Per Gigwise.com:
“Eminem has been through a lot. He is being a perfectionist and is completely obsessive-compulsive about this album . . . There’s a 50-50 chance it will be done by the end of this year - but most likely it’ll be the first quarter of next year.”
Has it really been almost five years since Encore? Looks like it. I guess there’s a good chance that you’ll just have to stuff your stockings with some other vulgar white rapper’s album, or if you haven’t gotten a hold of his autobiography, maybe that’ll suffice.
