The apocalypse is upon us! Jack White and Thom Yorke plan collaboration

Coming soon to a record store near you: Jack White & Thom Yorke: A Collaboration for the Ages. Alright so maybe the that won’t be the title, but if you believe The White Stripes/Raconteurs frontman’s recent comments, a collaboration between the two high-profile musician is indeed in the works.

White, who is currently recovering from a neck injury which caused him to cancel several European promo dates in support of Quantum of Solace last month, recently revealed that he currently plans to hit the studio with Yorke when he is ready to perform again, “We’ve known each other for a while now. But the doctors said I couldn’t perform for two months. I’ve been writing a lot instead.” While little else is known about the supposed collaboration, the Detroit born guitarist did go on to note that he already has a “few songs ready.”

Talk about one odd collaboration. The anarchic guitar riffs of White meshing with Yorke’s all too elegant vocals? The idea of the whole this is almost as fascinating as any eventual music they create. But given the rather White’s rather vague comments, it’s hard to know what actually to expect. An entire album or another one of those superstar duets put together for some movie soundtrack? Only time will tell.

As for the two musicians respective outfits, Radiohead recently confirmed two of the long-rumored Mexico dates for March of next year, while The Raconteurs recently debuted a video for their new single, “Old Enough”.

The Raconteurs - “Old Enough”

Radiohead 2009 Tour Dates:
03/16 - Mexico City, MX @ Foro Sol
03/27 - Santiago, CL @ San Carlos de Apoquindo Stadium

  1. this is not true.

  2. I wouldn’t mind hearing what the two come up with. I don’t see how it could be bad? Maybe if Thom played drums and Jack played a kazoo?

  3. Uhmm…he never actually says “yeh, we are going to collaborate and write and record something together”. It’s the same quote that came from the ultra speculative English press.
Don’t believe it, it ain’t gonna happen. They were in the same room at a party and now they are going to put out a record?
