Springsteen readies another “Dream”

Hot off the debut of the studio version of the album’s title track on Sunday Night Football last night, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band are ready to talk specifics about their forthcoming album, Working on a Dream.

Let me pause for a moment so we can all soak that in. Just 16 months after the release of the critically acclaimed Magic, the Boss and his E Street Band are ready to give it another go.

On January 27th, Springsteen will release the 12-track, Brendan O’Brien-produced Working on a Dream via Columbia Records. Headed by the aforementioned folk-heavy title track, the effort will also feature two bonus selections, one of which will be “The Wrestler”, a song originally written for Darren Aronofsky’s film of the same name. Speaking of the release, Springsteen had the following the say:

“Towards the end of recording ‘Magic,’ excited by the return to pop production sounds, I continued writing. When my friend producer Brendan O’Brien heard the new songs, he said, ‘Let’s keep going.’ Over the course of the next year, that’s just what we did, recording with the E Street Band during the breaks on last year’s tour. I hope ‘Working on a Dream’ has caught the energy of the band fresh off the road from some of the most exciting shows we’ve ever done. All the songs were written quickly, we usually used one of our first few takes, and we all had a blast making this one from beginning to end.”

The release of the album will come just weeks before Springsteen and Co. headline the halftime show of Super Bowl XLIII. While no other tour dates have been confirmed, a spring trek in 2009 has widely been rumored in recent weeks.
