LCD Soundsystem: Done…with new album!
Between Super Disco Version, the newly announced classic rock outfit, and whatever else is surely to come in the coming weeks and months, it’s beginning to look like James Murphy, Pat Mahoney, and the rest of the LCD Soundsystem crew has all but taken an extended absence from the pulsating electro madness of their main outfit. Au contraire says the LCD frontman in a recent interview with NME. In fact, the follow up to 2007’s Sound of Silver could be at our fingertips before we know it.
“I write all my music in my head, I never demo…I get to a point where there are too many songs and I have to get them recorded. I recently felt that. I’ve got eight in my head - that’s critical mass,” the New York native explained upon being asked about the rumored end of LCD Soundsystem. While Murphy would not go into specifics, “When I start recording I don’t tell anyone not even my manager,” the frontman did go on to note that he could head into the studio within the next month.
Here’s to a fun-filled summer of LCDness…in that legal, more music kind of way!
In the meantime, Murphy has a few other engagements to take care of, such as a Special Disco Version performance tonight in New York. Oh, and he still has to come up with some sounds, let alone a name, for that aforementioned classic rock outfit.
