Uh oh! Coldplay afraid of age, plots retirement
No wonder Coldplay has been going all out in recent months. After all, if you believe the comments frontman Chris Martin recently made to The Daily Express, the days of the English outfit are numbered. Citing “old age,” Martin declared that Coldplay will likely cease existence by the end of 2009, “I’m 31 now and I don’t think that bands should keep going past 33. So we’re trying to pack in as much as possible. Up until the end of next year, we’ll just go for it in every sense. I don’t believe in time off. We’ve still got most of our hair, we can still fit into our musical trousers and we’ve got to make the most of that.”
So where’s this leave us?
Well, if this isn’t some pathetic attempt by the band to drum up attention in the days leading up to the release of its new EP, Prospekt’s March, then we should probably take Martin’s words a bit seriously and expect to see a lot of Coldplay over the next couple months. In fact, between this EP, due out next week, all the upcoming tour dates (see below), and the rumors of album #5, we already have quite a bit to look forward to.
Though I must say, I’m going to miss that jacket when the time has come.

[...] such a kidder! Turns out you and the rest of your Coldplay bandmates aren’t actually retiring when you turn 33-years-of-age/the end of 2009. Nope, you just said those things as motivation because after all, it’s not like a [...]
