Excuse the play on the band’s former tune, but this is just too exciting. In fact, I can hear my ripped skater shorts and worn out Vans calling my name right now. It seems like the next band to come out of the reunion rumor mill is indeed the ultimate California trio. No, not Green Day… they’re already in the studio. No, we’re talking about their fellow friends, Blink-182!

After surviving a plane crash, drummer Travis Barker was visited by friends and fellow (and former) band mates Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge. While Hoppus, who works with Barker in +44, seems like a regular, it was DeLonge’s visit that came as a surprise, considering the two of them haven’t spoken in years. Let alone all three of them.

“In the midst of everything else that has happened lately, Tom [DeLonge], Travis, and I have all spoken together,” bassist Mark Hoppus wrote to his blog [via MTV.com]. “First, through a number of phone calls, and then a couple of weeks ago we all hung out for a few hours. They’ve all been great, very positive conversations.

“We’re just reconnecting as friends after four years of not talking,” he continued. “Obviously the first question for a lot of people will be, ‘Does this mean a Blink-182 reunion?’ The answer is none of us know… the events of the past two months supersede everything that happened before. Life is too short.”

As horrible as this might sound, this incident couldn’t have come at a better time. Angels & Airwaves are done touring with Weezer and +44 don’t have anything on the cards. In all honesty, would anyone rather have another release from either act over a new effort from Blink? The answer is no, a very, very loud no. You know the drill, ladies and gentlemen…
