Eels returns with new and old for movie soundtrack
Here’s a tip for all movie producers. If you’re looking to compose a solid soundtrack, it’d probably be a good idea to involve the Mark Oliver Everett, aka Eels, in some shape or form. After all, one look at the California native’s theatrical resume (Holes, Shrek, Hot Fuzz, just to name a few) and it’s pretty obvious that aside from The Moldy Peaches, no one else has captured our hearts and filled our ears more on the big screen.
So it should come as little surprise that the Everett has again been tapped for some soundtrac
k work, only this time it’s bit more extensive. With the year’s earlier obligations (greatest hits and vinyl box sets of 2005’s Blinking Lights and Other Revelations) out of the way, the singer/songwriter has spent the recent months composing the score for the upcoming film, Yes Man. The soundtrack, a 13-track effort due out December 9th, two week’s prior to the film’s release, will take the composer’s music stylings, including one brand new track entitled, “Man Up, and combine them with some more musical offerings from movie actress turned indie phenomena Zooey Deschanel. The She of She & Him, who co-stars opposite Jim Carrey, teamed up with San Francisco rockers Von Iva for a fictional band named Munchausen By Proxy in the movie, added four tracks.
Confused? Basically all you need to know is: Eels + Zooey Deschanel = soundtrack even the hippest hipster can get behind.
