I’m dreaming of a Colbert Christmas
Ahh, Christmas morning. Presents under the tree, cinnamon buns baking in the oven, and the sweet holiday sounds of Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, and Stephen Colbert filling the house.
As odd as the latter may sound, this will indeed be the case thanks to the release of the comedian’s first ever Christmas EP, A Colbert Christmas: The Greatest Gift Of All!, on November 25th. To coincide with the an upcoming Christmas for Comedy Central two days prior, the Colbert Report host has tapped several music bigwigs and one fellow commentator for an eight-track digital-only EP.
Among those making an appearance on the Adam Schlesinger (Fountains of Wayne) composed effort include
Feist, Toby Keith, John Legend, Willie Nelson, Elvis Costello, and nonother than The Daily Show’s finest, Jon Stewart. Not to shabby a list, and together with Colbert, the sextet has created what appears to be a hilarious batch of multi-holiday music (ie., the Colbert and Stewart duet on “Can I Interest You In Hannukah”).
The high-profile guests will also play a role on that aforementioned Christmas Special, which will be packaged with the EP as a DVD as well. As an added benefit, all proceeds will go to Feeding America.
