Who wants to be a music festival promoter?
Perhaps unsurprisingly considering that still mind-numbing lineup, the inaugural Outside Lands Music & Arts Festival proved to be a humongous success. In fact, so much so, that the city of San Francisco is looking to bring the festival, or something like it, back for years to come. It just needs a promoter. As per SFGate.com:
The Recreation and Parks Department was thrilled by the event, which brought $815,000 into their coffers and allowed the agency to showcase its crown jewel. Now, the department is looking to sign on a promoter to produce a similar event, in August, for the next three years — with the possibility of a two-year extension. The idea? To create a new revenue stream for the city’s parks; to “create an iconic event” representative of the city and its main park, that provides economic benefits for the region; and to generally call attention to the parks system, which is in dire need of cash.
Think you got what it takes to produce a three-day music extravaganza of epic proportions? Well, you better be willing to pony up a “minimum payment of $1 million in rent, plus a percentage of revenue” just to be considered. Applicants have until December 19th to submit their proposals.
Unless someone is willing to foot the bill for us, we’ll stick to the coverage aspect of the festival. At least for now.
