Ben Lee preps “The Rebirth of Venus”

Between producing 14-year-old Gabriella Cihomsky, performing with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, and getting married to Ione Skye, Australia’s Ben Lee continues to prove he is the hardest working Ben. And that’s not even without mentioning his brand new studio effort. Scheduled for release on February 10, The Rebirth of Venus will mark the singer/songwriter’s seventh full-length release overall, and if you throw the New Wave cover album into equation, the third new release in the last two years alone.

Described by Spin as a celebration of “feminine mystique,” “Lee says the album grapples with female qualities such as “compassion, nurturing, creativity, tenderness, and warmth,” the 13-track effort looks to be a reflection of Lee’s current emotional state - the man is getting married after all!. To better achieve this femininity, the Australian tapped several high-profile guests, including The Dandy Warhols’ Courtney Taylor-Taylor and Missy Higgins, for some vocal work.

The Rebirth of Venus will be headed by “I Love Pop Music” and “What’s So Bad (About Feeling Good)?”, the first U.S. and European singles respectively, both of which can currently be heard on Lee’s MySpace. A collection of cover-heavy bonus material is also expected to be included on the album’s eventual release.

The Rebirth of Venus Tracklist:
1. What’s So Bad (About Feeling Good)
2. Surrender
3. Sing
4. I Love Pop Music
