Damon Albarn really likes the idea of a Blur reunion
A couple of weeks ago, we reported that British mastermind, guru, musician and eccentric Damon Albarn was flirting with the idea of a Blur reunion. Now, it looks like the reunion is just inches away from happening, as the mystic Brit spilled a smidgen of information to boil our appetite some.
At the BBC Radio Theatre in London, where his one-off opera Monkey: A Journey to the West took place, Albarn was naturally asked about his recent projects, to which of course, Blur
was brought up. His answer was short, but just enough of a confirmation: “Blur are certainly going to rehearse and see if we’re into it.” This seems to go along with what he previously alluded to a couple of weeks ago, that he and other Blur bandmate Graham Coxon were meeting up again.
So, there you have it. It’s just gossip at this point, but it’s the same type of gossip that can lead to something bigger. You don’t think so? Just take a look back in 2007 with The Police reunion. It all started with conversations and ended with a huge gala in New York City. Who knows what will happen with Blur, but to quote Wayen Campbell, “You know how these things start. One guy tells another guy something, then he tells two friends, and they tell two friends, and they tell their friends, and so on, and so on…”
For those interested, Albarn’s Monkey opera will premiere live on BBC Radio 2 Saturday, November 29 at 7p.m.(BST).
