Dan Deacon tabs an ensemble
Never a man to disappoint, Dan Deacon will soon return with perhaps his most ambitious project to date. On Thursday, December 11th, the Baltimore based DJ will look to follow up the fall’s Round Robin fun with a performance at the Brooklyn Masonic Temple. Only this time around, Deacon will be backed by a 15-piece live ensemble.
Composed of members from fellow Wham City acts Adventure, Ponytail, and So Percussion among others, the ensemble will accompany Deacon as he officially debuts his long-awaited new studio album, Bromst. “While most of songs are ones I have been playing live for a while, it will nonetheless be our “first show,” Deacon writes of the upcoming performance on his MySpace, a reference to the rather complex nature of the show: “Its taken a long time to split up all the parts and arrange what was written for electronics and transcribe it into playable parts for skilled humans. I’m super pumped for this as I loved skilled humans.”
In addition to renditions from the forthcoming album, now scheduled for release on
March 24th via Carpark Records, Deacon will also offer some solo time, a tent, and a few other surprises, which considering the aforementioned, should truly be something special. Tickets are still available, though you better hurry. Add in the fact that Dirty Projectors and So Percussion will be serving as the evening’s support, and the Temple should be rocking come Tuesday.
Currently, the rest of Deacon’s scheduled dates are all solo ventures, but we’re willing to bet the ensemble will return as the release date for Bromst approaches.
