What could Billy Joel possibly do to follow up his Barack Obama extravaganza with Bruce Springsteen? How does a planned two year tour with Elton John sound?

As first alluded to during an appearance on The View last month, the piano legends will soon join forces for a world tour designed to bring fans some fun-loving melodies, while saving a couple extra bucks. “It’s two people for the price of one…our ticket prices are the same as you’d see anyone else, but there’s two of us. In this day and age, we hope to be getting people value for their money.”

The upcoming endeavor, scheduled to kick off next March and last for “at least two years,” will mark the fifth time Joel and John have hit the road together. Their most recent collaboration came in 2003 when the pair, under the bill “Face to Face,” performed on stage duets from a set featuring classics from both men’s discography. See Stuck in the 80’s for a sample set. The 2009 trek is expected to follow a similar format.

Thus far, only four dates have been announced. Tickets are currently available via ticketmaster.com.

However, if you believe the latest rumors currently captivating the British press, Billy Joel won’t be the only high-profile musician Elton John spends his time with in the coming months. According to Fox News of all places, Mark Ronson will join John for a new studio album. Scheduled for release early next year, the collaboration will be released on Universal/Republic, a move that will put the English piano mistro “in a cutting edge category with other young contemporary hitmakers such as Colbie Caillat, India Arie, and Jack Johnson.”
