Great Lake Swimmers announce new album, tour
Canada’s trendy folk rock band Great Lake Swimmers hve been pleasing Indie kids for years with their mellow tunes featuring everything from banjos to keyboards. And with quite the reputation to live up to, the five-piece outfit is setting their goals very high for next year.
While exploring the mystical and beautiful Thousand Island region of Ontario, Canada this year, Great Lake Swimmers became fascinated with the “Lost Channel”, a passage of water in the Thousand Islands where mysterious disappearances occurred during a battle in 1760. And it was there that they began working on their next album Lost Channels, which will hit stores on March 31.
Lost Channels is a whopping 12 tracks long and will feature a slew of guest appearances from artists including Erin Aurich, Mike Olsen, and Serena Ryder. According to lead singer Tony Dekker, Lost Channels also shows off the band’s “new” sound, which falls somewhere between Neil Young and REM.
In addition to the new record and supposed “new” sound, Great Lake Swimmers will also be embarking on a Canadian/North American tour this March and April in support of their new record! Unfortunately, specific dates and venues for the tour have not yet been announced. However, Great Lake Swimmers is more than eager to start touring and to prove it they’ll be kicking things off with a couple of early shows in New York!
With such an exciting year ahead, Great Lake Swimmers will have only more good news to share, so don’t forget to check back with us again for further details and tour updates.
