Check Out: Eminem goes “Number One”

Check Out: Eminem goes “Number One”

As we learned last week, Eminem’s long-awaited sixth studio album, Relapse, won’t be available until early 2009, leaving Mom and Dads everywhere scrambling for a replacement gift to put on the Christmas trees. While the decision was of course not his, the rapper also known as Marshall Mathers has since unveiled one small treat from the forthcoming album that should help please those taste buds for the time being, or at least until another track mysterious leaks onto the Internet.

Introduced by a round of self-referential rhymes from Eminem himself, “Number One” is heavy in your traditional hip-hop content: shout outs, condoms, and guest spots - this time around, Dr. Dre lends both his vocal and production talents. However, unlike the previously revealed “I’m Having a Relapse”, this particular track is a bit more emotionally driven, relying more on the rhymes and lyrics rather than a catchy, nod your head along to this, free style nature. It’s different, but by no means on an Earth-shattering, Kanye auto tunes level. It’s smart, but fun; the best of both worlds.

  1. The decision I believe was his, because he is a very insecure person. This is also going to give the world the 3 headed monster, a 50 cent release, then Dr. Dre (finally), then Eminem. My sources tell me there will be a spring release for eminem, we can also expect to see him at Wrestlemania this year promoting the new album.

P.S. James is right the voice over kills the song and any potential the unfinished song has.

  2. All the random shout outs ruin this song. Someone shut them up and let Eminem do what he does best.

P.S. this is still better than anything Kanye has come out with in quite a long time.
