Black Lips plan to reach “200 Million Thousand”
As first alluded to way back during our interview with the band at Lollapalooza, the Black Lips are gearing up for quite the busy 2009. Despite going seemingly nonstop since the release of their critically acclaimed fifth studio album, Good Bad Not Evil, in September of 2007, the Georgia based outfit currently finds itself readying for the release of a brand new studio album.
Entitled 200 Million Thousand, the 14-track effort is scheduled to hit music stores everywhere on February 24th via Vice Records. Based on the tracklist, it appears the Lips will examine such standard topics as drugs, God, and being trapped in a basement - things that surely will work well with the band’s rockin’ flower-punk style.
To support the release, the Lips will head back on the road beginning in mid-February for a short U.K. trek, highlighted by an appearance at the NME Awards, before returning home to the States for a more extensive tour. South by Southwest ‘09 is already a go, and based on the lack of west coast dates, we’re willing to bet that one in Indio will be too.

BLACK LIPS 4-EVER!!
i saw these guys open for The Raconteurs in June of this year. i wasn’t a big fan. disliked them even more when they played a song with melodies that were lifted from The Beatles “Ticket to Ride”.
