Tool frontman takes side-project to the road

Cabaret shows and wine tasting aside, Maynard James Keenan, the mastermind behind both Tool and A Percect Circle has spent the last few months invested in his side-project, Puscifer. So far, the Los Angeles based musician has stuck to the recorded department, releasing two remix albums, “V” Is for Viagra and “D” Is for Dubby in just the last year. But beginning in February, Keenan will take the industrial-friendly music project to the road for its live debut.

On February 13th and 14th, Keenan will take to Las Vegas’ Palms Casino for some Valentine Day’s fun, in a sadistic, trippy kind of way. Per Spin:

So what’s in store for fans? Keenan clarifies: “Expect a loosely organized bucket of Romper Room chaos sprinkled with Dry Wit and Brown Note Booty Bumping Sub Bins. And perhaps some snacks.”

I’m not sure whether to cringe or run to ticketmaster. Either way, we doubt these will be the only Puscifer performances in 2009. Maybe an appearance at Coachella?

  1. thank you for pointing that one out captain obvious

  2. Ahh, easy there champ, maw fucka is a joke - it’s slang for Mother Fucker, maw fucka. For instance, Jay-Z often sounds like he’s saying maw fucka, when in fact, he says Mother Fucker. I figured you would’ve caught on to that since your so maw fuckin’ in touch with music.

  3. perhaps if you were able to read you would know what i was speaking of but clearly your the english major that is saving the world blog by blog. i like how you make fun of me for misspellings yet you dribble on with words like fucka because that is clearly spelled correctly. way to lose your own point. your amazing band still plays boring live shows but at least they can quote someone correctly.

  4. Quiet down ya dink, you haven’t been to 1,500 shows. Also, how do you get a job with one of the “biggest rock promoters in the world” when you use run-on sentences like a maw fucka and spell words wrong? I certainly hope you’re not sending out emails to the clients of said “biggest rock promoter in the world” with those kinds of grammar infractions. Perhaps I should tell “the biggest rock promoter in the world” to proof read his assistant’s emails?

That post made my face hurt guy, I couldn’t even read half the gibberish you were trying to convey.

You’re a pickle, end of story.

  5. mello thanks for not being a dick about this since there isn’t any reason to be but to answer your question no tool just didn’t do it for me at bonnaroo. i had saw them 8 times before then and new almost exactly what the setlist would be because it’s pretty much always the same i thought it was pretty easy to guess that morello was gonna come out and play with them i was hoping it would have been a song other than lateralus. the visuals at most shows don’t really blow me away i think the 2 shows off the top of my head that i was really impressed with were nin and the flaming lips. i guess i’m usually just disappointed because i wish they would play songs like third eye or jerk off when i see them but they don’t go that deep into their catalog and i understand their music is really complex so it’s hard to tour with a huge list of songs to be able to play for more reasons than just the fact that they want to sound really tight on stage the lights and background all have to be synced up to the show. although i will say i thought the lasers were pretty cool but not enough to impress me.

captain what ever your view of music may be that superjam was awesome ben, john and ?uest were awesome together as well as captain kirk and that show was more impressive because those guys don’t play together and played really well together having only a few weeks to rehearse together. watching them play a bunch of led zeppelin and stevie wonder songs was wicked cool. so how about you vary your music preferences and listen to something other than 90’s rock stations. i’m also don’t care about the crunchy licks that tea leaf green plays all the time i’m far more interested in bands doing things things for there fans like zappa plays zappa allowing the audience to choose the setlist and then giving them free copies of the show, primus getting back together to play frizzle fry start to finish, the gorillaz playing demon days and bringing all of the guest artists except doom because he’s from another planet to the show to fully recreate the album, and the hendrix experience and chuck berry bringing together some of the great musicians of the last 40 years to play their songs. to finish you and devin can’t begin to tell me what i have or have not seen, what lame shows they may have been or wether or not i’m an asshole but i think clearly we have made the point as to who that trophy belongs to here. the festivals i have been to haven’t been counted as more than one show try working for the biggest live music promoter in the country for 20 years and find out how many shows you can see. why not take a page out of maynard’s book and learn how to not be an angry human being and progress with life by moving out of your mom’s house.

  6. Counting every band at every festival you’ve ever been to doesn’t count as seeing them asshole. 1500 show is little more than 4 years of going to concerts daily worth shows and you have not seen that many you prick.

i was there it wasn’t good sorry superjam was far far far superior

YOU ARE A FUCKING IDIOT!!! Tool blew everyone’s mind with that performance.

drew you need to see more shows that tool show wasn’t good and radiohead at bonnaroo 06 and was far superior to apw. just so you know i have seem over 1,500 shows covering bands of all genres all over the world so i don’t think i’m the one that needs to get out more

Agreed, Radiohead at Bonnaroo 06 was much better than Radiohead at APW. HOWEVER, I honestly can’t believe you just fucking said, “just so you know i have seem over 1,500 shows covering bands of all genres all over the world…” you pretentious cunt!

First of all, you HAVE NOT seen over 1,500 shows. Who the fuck do you think you’re kidding?

Secondly, regardless of how many shows you’ve seen, it’s apparent that you’re still a fuckin idiot and have no idea what you’re talking about because the SuperJam performance the year Tool played was so fucking lame, I was legit flabbergasted.

Sorry if Tool isn’t playing crunchy licks like Tea Leaf always does, “bra,” but they’re still one of the greatest live bands over the past 2 decades — Don’t even argue that. They’re certainly better than whatever show Pulcifer is going to put on, seeing as though Pulcifer is a side project/experimental thing to keep Maynard busy in his spare time.

Go fuck yourself and your 1,500 lame ass shows you fucking loser.

  8. I’m not going to be a dick about it Anonymous, but you really didn’t enjoy the intense audio/visual sensation that Tool brought to the table? I mean, it’s okay if you didn’t, you’re entitled to your own opinion.

Either way, Puscifer is alright, but I am a bit excited to see what they have in store for us live.

  10. I think tool is a great band recorded and live, but Puscifer is fucking clown shoes.

  11. hahah snoozers, have you been to a concert before? Tool at bonnaroo was possibly the greatest show I have ever seen in my life (though Radiohead at APW had to top it). You need to get out more, anonymous.

  12. i was there it wasn’t good sorry superjam was far far far superior

  13. tool and bonnaroo 07

    watch that and thats it

tools amazing live as far as im concerned, and its definately the word on going around.

  14. tool is awesome. but when i saw them in south florida maynard didnt face the crowd or address them once.
their songs get kind of long winded.
its cool visually but gets kind of boring after a while

maynard is NOT the mastermind behind a perfect circle
    that is billy howerdels brainchild
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A_Perfect_Circle

i wasnt a big fan of puscifer myself till i gave it a few spins
kind of hard to swallow at first
but it will never suck as hard as phantomas

if you like APC check out ashes divide, billys new band

  15. wow you certainly lived up to your name of captain asshole

  16. Puscifer was pure shit. Tool>>>> A Perfect Circle>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Puscifer

  17. Anonymous, you’re a fuckin idiot guy. Tool puts on one of the best live shows any band in the history of music will ever put on. Perhaps you might dislike their live shows (which is fucking crazy but we’re all entitled to our opinions) but I will not let you use the adjective “snoozer” to describe their live performances.

You. Are. A. Fucking. Idiot. Bottom. Fucking. Line.

  18. Coachella ? ? ?

  19. i have to say i’m super excited i like the pusicifer records alot i hope he does a full tour and can redeem himself in my opinion about putting on a good show because tool shows in my mind are total snoozers.
